You can collect the 1up in stage 5-3 as many times as you want by 
climbing back down the ladder to a lower level and climbing back 
up. All the power-ups, 1up included, will return for you to collect again.


Stage 4 boss tip

Stage 4 Boss: You can destroy one of the dogs with a single throwing star 
so you can concentrate on fighting the one that can actually be hurt.


Stop enemies from returning

If enemies keep returning just after you kill them (like the bird at the 
final jump in stage 5-2), you need to move forward a little farther to 
stop them.


Last boss tip

Final Boss Trio: Attack the red nose in the middle of the screen, not 
your father who attacks you. Against Jaquio, without a weapon besides 
your sword, you need to run in the opposite direction that he does to 
avoid his fire, then jump at him as he's moving away. If you attack as 
he approaches, he will hit you. Against the demon statue, you need to 
attack its head and tail so you can get at the heart, while dodging the 
stuff it throws at you.


Enemy tips

When going into the last enemies make sure you have the Art of Fire, 
and lots of it. This works very well against the orb that controls your 
father, and the enemy after that. The best weapon to have going into 
fight the demon is the windmill star. One hit takes his head off, then 
just unload on his unprotected stomach. make sure you have plenty of 
windmill stars though. I personally won't go in with less than 60. It's 
a breeze when you get the hang of it. Secondly, when you fight Malth 
at the end of level 5, it helps greatly to have a controller with turbo, 
like the Advantage. go up to him right away and just start hacking away, 
he'll run out of life before you do. Thirdly, if you have to make a jump 
with an enemy waiting on the other side, move up slightly and slowly. 
The enemy will move off the screen and not be there when you go to 
make the jump.

At the title screen press A, B, and select at the same time
then press start to get a sound test

To kill any boss in a single blow, use the jumping slash. 
This technique is extremely powerful and only uses 5 magic points.
