Defeating Zero

Sent in by Neo Zero If you didn't defeat the X-Hunters in the first eight stages, then you'll have to fight Zero before Sigma. Bad move. If you defeat the X-Hunters (kind of wish they could of killed X first, the whiny little wuss), you'll get Zero's "Parts" back. (Warning: Zero fans should be careful, because you will literally have his head in your inventory.) If not, well, nice knowing you. Zero is hard. I found him harder than Sigma. I suggest avoiding battle with him, since you'll need your Sub-Tanks for Sigma. No matter where you are in the room, Zero can and will hit you in some way. He's gained his well-known beam sabre now, and uses it. It can take a lot of life off. If you're on the ground, he uses his beam sabre/arm cannon. If you're on the wall, he uses his beam sabre/arm cannon. If you're anywhere else, he'll hit the ground so hard that it busts apart and little pieces of it fly up and smack you. Haha, I can just imagine X whining.... "The floor is hitting me! Wah!" Try and avoid as much of Zero's attacks as possible, since you need to conserve energy. Once you've knocked some sense into him (literally), X will go all mushsy and start worrying about our favorite crimson Reploid. Zero gives the silent treatment, hits the ground again, opening the way to Sigma. Now, if you had just taken out those darned X hunters before, Zero'd be saving X's butt (again) instead. If you rescued Zero, Sigma will have a silver haired green armored clone (who Zero blows up). Good luck, and don't have too much fun beating up on poor Zero.

In the second X-Hunter stage how do you get across the long row of spikes?

Sent in by Andrew Rockefeller

In the second X-Hunter stage how do you get across the long row of spikes?

The first row of spikes you need to freeze the bats with Crystal Hunter then jump across. If you are still too far away from the ledge, use the Flame Stag's weapon charged up. The second set of spikes, in which you need Wheel Gator's weapon to open, you shouldn't even bother with. There is only a single life, and you'll probably die on the way back.

Ryu Uppercut

Sent in by Chris Tart at The Unofficial World of Nintendo!!! Get all the sub-tanks, hearts, and enhancements and go the third X-Hunter stage. When there is a ladder going up and a ladder going down, go up. Use the Air Dash and the powered up Speed Burner to get past the place with the spikes where you go right, then left. After that, slide down the left wall. You should go through the wall partway down and inside there will be an enhancement thing. It will give you the Ryu Uppercut. Use it just like it in Street Fighter 2. Note: You must have full energy and sub-tanks for this to work.

Overdrive Ostrich

Sent in by AItoidMan For Overdrive Ostrich, I use Crystal Snail's weapon. It freezes him, then he jumps and does the boomerangs in mid-air, then freeze him when he lands. A never ending cycle until he dies, and each Hunter takes off 2 power lines.

Passwords

Sent in by Jeremy 7366 7123 All the weapons, all of the armor, all 4 sub-tanks, all 8 heart tanks 6188 and all of Zero's parts, and all 8 bosses beaten! 3681
Sent in by Saul Zemke Get the password right before you go into the X-Hunters stages. Don't go into it. Reset the game, go into the password screen. Go to the lower right corner and change the number. Try going up one number at a time, you will find a code that lets you pass the first two X-Hunter stages and start at X-Hunter Level 3. Example: 1 1 1 1 Change the 5. It could be 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8. 2 2 2 2 try them all, one of them should work. 3 3 3 3 it has always worked for me. 4 4 4 5

Dragon Punch

Sent in by Kevin Hanson Get started with this password: 8377, 8143, 6828, 7651 Charge up the S. Burner and release it to cross the first set of spikes. When you fall into this long drop, hug the right side of the wall and use the radar to find the wall's invisible section. Proceed through the X-Hunter level and defeat the bosses Violen and Serges. About halfway through the level to the third boss, Agile, you come to a point where a ladder descends and another ladder is above you, but out of reach. At the second set of spikes launch the S. Chain weapon, then lightly jump to carry yourself across the spikes. Enter this hidden area. Inside you find the dragon Punch capsule and a message from Dr. Light that reads "I'm not worthy!" Use the Crystal H. weapon to crystallize the bat and jump on him to reach the ladder above. As you drop, turn left, Air Dash to the platform, and grab the 1-up. This tricky maneuver takes perfect timing. At this point, you must still have perfect health, and all your Subtanks must be full. To use the Dragon Punch, the energy bar must be completely full. To execute it, tap Left arrow, Down arrow, and press Button Y.

Bosses

Sent in by Kris Williams at The Unofficial World of Nintendo!!! Moth (1) The Moth is fairly easy to beat. Just keep powering up and beat the little "Bug" by hitting it as many times as you can while avoiding the trash. When the real bug morphs into the Moth, Continue to power up, while you continually dash underneath it. This will cause the Moth to stop dropping "dust" on you, and prepare to fire at you. Just get to the opposite side and fire a big blast at him. The Ostrich projectile also works well against the Moth, but the Moth is definitely a guy to start off with. Pede (3) The Pede is difficult since he teleports to any one of four corners and to hit him with the Buster requires you predict where he will be. However, with the Silk Shot, the Pede is really easy, plus, one shot of the Silk Shot will completely destroy the Pede's annoying tail. All you have to do with the Silk shot is stand in the very center. If he appears on the floor, just fire right at him. If he appears on the ceiling, fire in the opposite direction and let the projectiles from the silks shot break up and nail him. Snail (5) This guy can be incredibly annoying without the Pede's Magnet Shot. The reason is, only the magnet shock will knock the Snail out of his shell, and only for a little bit, until he charges back into it. When you hit him with the magnet, prepare to jump over the Snail as he is knocked out and flies to the wall. Try to time your next shot so he can't get back in all the way and fly up. If he does fly up, %90 of the time, he will just slow down time and come down exposed. Keep hitting him and jumping to avoid him. Ostrich (2) The only strategy for this guy, if you use the X-Buster is to jump over him, or let him jump over you if he's bouncing. He's hard to dodge and does a lot of damage. If you have the Snail crystal however, he's a breeze. The crystal will shock him and force him to jump and let out the "raining" projectile shot. Just nail him when he lands back down. It takes 20 seconds like this. Gator (1) Another easy target for the X-Buster. The wire Sponge will also work well on him, but you may want to start with the Gator. Jump to one wall, and climb all the way to the top and stay there. When you see a wheel coming at you, jump off and away from the wall as the wheel approaches. Get back on the wall quickly and stay high to avoid the Gator when he jumps out. Then jump off and get to the other side. Fire shots at him when he's not flashing, and avoid the wheels or the Gatro himself if he drills at you. Other than drilling, the Gator will not move from his spot until he goes back underwater. Crab (4) The wheel will wear right through the Carbs though force shield. Use the wheel on the Crab and go from one side to the other, avoiding the crab as best as possible. It doesn't always work (especially if the water level is high), but sometimes, you can just stay on the top of one wall and fire wheels down at the Crab and stay there. You can hit the Crab sometimes as many as three times with one wheel this way. Stag (2) The Stag's predictable pattern makes him incredibly easy to beat, even with the X-Buster, but if you have the bubbles, you can knock him off in about 15 seconds. All you have to do is wait for him to land from jumping around, hit him with bubbles, then jump to avoid the fire he shoots at your feet, and hit him again on the way down. Every time you hit him, he will chuck fire at your feet, so follow the pattern for a sure fire win. Sponge (2) The Sponge is another wild one. The idea is to take him out as quickly as possible and the best way to do that is with the flame shots. Avoid the wire, and kill the little plants when you have the time. Keep hitting him whenever you get shots in. When he "burns" up, he's getting ready to fire electricity. If he does this, hit about four or five "blocks" away from him and you should be safe. Fire again when he's vulnerable. X-Hunter Strategies Agile: Agile is easy to beat if you can get to the walls fast enough. When he is standing on one side, jump to the opposite wall and stay roughly mid-way up. This will force Agile to throw his sword beam at you high enough so that it will go over your head if you drop to the ground fast enough. Power up your shot and take him out when you land. If he charges at you, just get to the other side and repeat. Violen: Violen is really tough since, while his ball does follow a sort of pattern, it is difficult to predict. You could try to power up the Buster and hit him, but this is usually to slow considering the damage his ball can do to you. Violen does hate Bubbles though, so hit him with as many as you can. If you are out of Bubbles, you could also try the wheel, since Violen will stay stationary while the ball is swinging around. Serges: He doesn't play fair by riding a platform hovering in the air with a force shield. It's hard to hit him while he standing on it, so wait until he pops up in the air to release shots. He is weak against Fire, and the Flame weapon seems to do a good job at penetrating his force shield as well, if you fire high enough (i.e. the tip of his head). Not too difficult compared to the other two. Boss order: Sponge, Gator, Crab, Stag, Moth, Pede, Snail Ostrich Strategy: The above order gives you a good idea on who to take out when. HOWEVER... It is a VERY good idea to go straight to the Ostrich any time after you've beaten the Gator in order to the Air Dash, and to then return to the Gator stage to pick up the Dual Blaster. The best time to attempt this would be after you've beaten the Stag so that you can get the heart in the Gator stage as well as the Energy Tank and heart in the Crab stage. The Sponge is not particularly weak to the Ostrich Projectiles, but if you do beat him with it, you see him split in half at the torso, so that's kind of cool.

Power-up Capsules

Sent in by Kris Williams at The Unofficial World of Nintendo!!! Moth, Armor: Needed - WHEEL In order to get the armor, start the stage, and enter the building. After the first vacuum type duct that sucks garbage from the floor to the ceiling, send a wheel out on the ground before you have to jump up to a higher ledge. The wheel will dig down to where the capsule is. Snail, Radar Sight: Needed - nothing After the long vertical climb, you come to a gap. You can fall down this gap and enter into the left. This is the easiest Capsule to find. Ostrich, Air Dash: Needed - WHEEL Towards the very end of the stage, after the cycle, and the two scorpion like robots that reside indoors, and just before the last vertical drop, you will come to a 2 by 4 set of blue blocks, which the wheel will cut through and lead you to the Capsule. Gator, Dual Buster: Needed - AIR DASH Right after you enter the Dinosaur's body, and fall down for the first time, you need to jump onto the right wall and air dash to the left wall on the other side, and work your up to find this capsule.

Energy Tanks

Sent in by Kris Williams Crab: Needed - DUAL BUSTER and BUBBLES When you get to the long horizontal underwater stage, and you see a energy up capsule inside of the rock, power up your bubble shot so that you are surrounded by bubbles. In water, this means you can jump all the way to the surface. Mega Man is capable of jumping along the surface, so you when you jump up to the surface, be sure to jump again real quick to get out of the water. you fill find the E. Tank to your left. Stag: Needed - nothing When you see the big "Beetle" robot that tries to ram into you at the beginning, jump onto it's back and let it take you to the top. Jump onto the ledge that is above where you started and move left. Sponge: Needed - nothing When you come to the bars that move up and down, jump on top of the first one, and dash jump (not air dash) to the left to the right side of the wall. Work your way up, and take the upper platforms to the right. It's past the extra life you will see. Pede: Needed - nothing (but the Dual Buster and Flame really helps) When you get to the part where the blocks fall and arrange into barriers, get to the last one where they fall from the ceiling like this: left right right left left right. After the first right block falls, race through there before the third one squashes you and you will see one lone block on the ceiling. Jump onto and dash jump (or power up the Flame shot) and try your best to make it to the right wall that hangs down. Jump up that wall to find the tank. Hearts: Sponge: Needed - nothing This heart is the easiest to get. It's right above and to your left of where you start. It's hidden in the wall. Moth: Needed - CRYSTAL When you start, use the crystal on the first shield throwing robot and use him as a launch point for the wall above and tow your right. Work your way up that wall. Stag: Needed - nothing (But Dual Buster and Air Dash help a lot) You can see this heart clearly as you are forced up the volcano. The trick to getting it is speed as a barrier robot blocks your path. The easiest possible way to get it is to power up your dual blaster (let the first shot go so you don't have to hold down another button), And work your way up the volcano using the air dash at timed points. Fire at the robot ASAP and grab the heart. Pede: Needed - DUAL BUSTER and FLAME At the beginning, you see the searchlight motion detectors. When you get through this part, make sure you have not destroyed the very last robot box that drops from the ceiling if the alarms go off. Power up the flame shot and aim for that box to start working your way up through the ceiling. Ostrich: Needed - Turbo Cycle When you reach the 2nd Turbo Cycle, be sure to knock down every wall, including the one atop the cliff after the big jump, then head back, hop on the cycle, hold down the A button for Turbo speed, and make your way into the building and onto the ledge with all the spikes. Try not to run into the spikes though (even if you do, you'll still get the heart however). Crab: Needed - DUAL BUSTER and FLAME After the fish comes out, work your way above where the fish crashes through the floor. Jump off the wall, after you've powered up the Flame shot, and grab the side of one of the bars moving up and down. Work your way up from there.

Heart Tanks 2

Sent in by Kris Williams Gator: Needed - DUAL BUSTER and FLAME You can see this heart after you are forced to dismount the Mobile Suit in order to climb up the ladder. You will have to power up the flame shot once again and jump from the ledge on the right to make the jump over to the heart and avoid the spikes. Snail: Needed - Chain Wire (Sponge) When you start the stage and slide down the incline and hop in the Mobile Suit, jump back to the left and fall into the gap in the incline and work your way to the left. From the ledge, Dash jump (and be sure to hold down jump so the robot will fly longer), but as soon as the robot stops flying, jump out of the robot. The ONLY way to grab the ledge is by timing the wire to grab the edge soon enough. The quickly make it to the top before you fall through the bottom of the screen. There is another way to get this heart, without using the Strike Chain. Get in the Mobile Suit, and charge up the spiked arm attack. When you let go of it, the suit will go flying to the left, and if you jump out of the suit at the right time, you can make it to the ledge w/o the Strike Chain. Where to find the X-Hunters to win back Zero Sponge: When you get to the elevator, wait for it to pass overhead and jump into the shaft. You will see the path to the door on the right. Moth: In order to find the X-Hunter here, you need the Air Dash. When you begin your long descent down the very long ladder, you will see a shield thrower standing on a ledge at the very beginning to your right. Take him out and air dash over to the ledge. Stag: After the volcano, and the dropping ledges, you will see another beetle type robot trying to ram you into the side. Go ABOVE the open space and make the beetle crash open that part of the wall to reach the X-Hunter's Door. Pede: The door to the X-Hunter is found all the way to the right and at the bottom of the room where all those blocks fall to form the rest of the floor. The trick to reaching it, lies in the stage before hand, where you are falling and trying to avoid the motion detectors. If you make it through without triggering one, the blocks will fall very slowly, allowing you to dash all the way under them. The more you trigger the alarms, the faster the blocks will fall, making it more and more difficult for you to get through. Ostrich: At the very beginning of the stage, you get to the rock where some of it looks darker. Needless to say, use the wheel on it and continue through the path. Crab: When you get through the water, you make it into a building. Instead, swim to the wall opposite that door and climb up and over to the right, above where you enter the building. Snail: This is probably the trickiest one to find. You need the Mobile Suit found in the beginning. Take it down the hole with you. Then park it as far to the right as you can, get out, and trigger the crystal slab to fall so the piece of ice blocking the robot breaks. Get back in the robot and work your way right, then up and to the left to reach the ledge. Break the ice over head and dash jump into it. Get out of the robot and grab the bars moving up and down and continue up, until you see the door.

Full energy

Sent in by Kris Williams at The Unofficial World of Nintendo!!! In the Crab stage, after the Fish crashes through the floor, fall in and push to the left as you cling to the left wall. You will enter a small room. Power up the Silk Shot with the Dual Blaster and at full power, 8 energy ups will enter the room. This happens EVERY TIME you power up the Silk Shot here. There is another spot just like this in the Ostrich stage. After the first cycle and you knock the draw bridge back down, turn around a dash jump to the left. Knock the wall out with the Wheel and enter the room and power up you Silk Shot.

Full weapons

Sent in by Kris Williams at The Unofficial World of Nintendo!!! In a similar method, go to the Snail stage, and after the jump over the gap that leads to the Radar sight, climb up the ladder that leads to the small room and Power up the Silk Shot again to get 8 Weapon power ups. (Though I don't know why you'd bother, since you get full weapons each time you enter a Maverick's stage)

Shoryuken

In the first X, there was the Hadoken. In this, there is the Shoryuken. Here's how to get it. To start, you need to have absolutely everything and a good free hour. Beat all the bosses and play the first two X-Hunter stages as normal. Before entering the third stage, fill all your sub-tanks up. An effective way of doing this is going to Overdrive Ostrich's stage and riding the bike until the huge bridge that must be shot down. Turn around, dash (on or off the bike), then jump on to the ledge on the left. Once in the room, if you use the radar helmet it will point to an inconspicuous area of the room? What? Well charge the Silk Shot to find the answer out. A place like this also exists at the underwater stage. Now, at the third X-Hunter stage play as normal until you finish the bit with the platforms you control by jumping on them. Soon after, you should come to a point where there is a ladder going up and a ladder going down. Lure one of the bats over and freeze it near the ladder. Climb the ladder and use the charged S. Burner weapon to get across the spiky gaps. Don't lose any health, or this wont work. After the last (difficult) bit you should be presented with a long drop. Just slide down the left wall. You must be at full energy to use the Shoryuken, and it does not go into the password.

Walkthrough

Bubble Crab Stage Energy Enhancer-You must have the X-Buster power up and have beaten the stage already. Wait until the fish comes out of hiding. Go to the right, but stop before it goes down past the "red line". Activate the Bubble Weapon at Level 3 power. This makes you lighter in water. Bounce off the walls until you get to the top, out of water, to the right is the enhancer. Sub-Tank-Same requirements as before. Follow the fish until you come to a platform which has an energy power up in it (Rock separates you from the energy power up.). Power up the bubble to level 3, making you lighter. Press B to get to the top of the water. At the right time, press B to "Skip Water" (Mega Man X will jump out of the water for a second) Use the time to hold onto the wall and get the sub-tank. Special Enemy-Just before the gate leading to the boss, bounce off the left wall and continue up (Following the Fish), when the fish stops, you'll be there. Boss-Use Wheel Gator's Wheels to beat Crab easy. Crystal Snail Energy Enhancer-First, get the MAA. Go back left and fall down the hole. Dash-Jump to the left. Hold or rapidly press "B" to activate the MAA's flying system. When the MAA runs out of energy, dash-jump out (Up, A and B) This will land you by the Energy Enhancer. Ride the platform back. Special Power-Up: Helmet-There is a chasim with bats flying around above it. Hold onto the wall down the left side. Run through the enemies to get the Helmet. (Note about Helmet: When the Helmet detects something, it is either a secret passage or secret power-up. Power up the Moth's weapon to Level 3. If it doesn't make anything appear, the area is a secret passage. Otherwise, it will make a lot of energy or weapon power ups appear. Special Enemy-Take the MAA to the spikes, jump off and let the Green slab of ice crush the blue piece of ice blocking your way. Go back and get the MAA. When you come to more spikes and a gunner, take out the gunner and fly to the left. Bash through the wall for power ups and the special enemy. Boss-When Crystal Snail comes out of his shell, use Manga Centipede's weapon. Flame Stage Energy Enhancer-In plain sight. Recommend using Level 3 blaster to take out the enemy guarding it quickly. Sub-Tank-Instead of letting the flying guy bash into the wall, jump on his back and ride him up to the top of the mountain where you'll find the Sub-Tank. Special Enemy-When you come to the second flying guy, don't let him bash the lower wall, instead climb up and let him take out the higher one. The SE is to the upper right. Boss-Use the Bubble Crabs weapon. Manga Centipede Energy Enhancer-Reccomend having Stag's weapon at Level 3 before trying these two power ups. During the first part, don't get seen by any searchlights, if you do, don't kill any enemies. Just before the first moving block, jump to the left, hang on the block/enemy and jump up to the energy enhancer. Sub-Tank-Just after a long pit, you'll see part of the ceiling gone. Go back to the other side of the pit. Charge to L3 and put it on Stag's weapon. Jump-Dash (Recommend having Legs power up and Stag's weapon is the only way I have done this.) then use Stag's weapon, when you come out of the fire, dash in mid air to get to the wall and up to the Sub-Tank. Special Enemy: When small blocks start raining down from above, dash all the way to the right. Hope you get there before a block blocks the way. Boss-When he tries to "Pull you in" dash away. If he gets you, first you can't charge, then you can't dash as well, then you can't jump as high. Morph Moth Energy Enhancer-Need Crystal Snail's weapon? Freeze the guy just before you enter the "building". Dash-jump off him to get to the Enhancer. Special Power-Up: Chest-In the first compacter, keep using Wheels until they break open the floor. The chest lets you take less damage from shots, absorbing some. When the chest gets up to full power, it kills everyone on the screen (Except bosses, of course). Boss-Keep firing until he hits the floor. When he does, if he has close to half life left, attack him. If he doesn't shoot the garbage, it'll stop sooner. When he transforms, stay in the corners, when he stops, dash. Pray you have enough life. Overdrive Ostrich Energy Enhancer-Hard one. Take the first MAC and ram it into the sand storm machine. Go right, blast down the two walls (One on each side of the chasm) and go back right. You'll find a second MAC. Use the second MAC to jump the wall over the chasm (A will make it jump further). When you go inside the building, the path dips, turn the bike when it comes out of the dip (So you don't go over the edge.). Press B to jump to the next ledge and then quickly press A to rifle over the spikes right onto the Enhancer. VERY HARD until you get the hang of it. (Landing on the spikes when on the MAC is ok too.) Special Power-Up: Legs-After the spikes, drop to the right. Use the wheel to go through the wall to get the legs. Legs let you dash in mid-air. Special Enemy-Instead of climbing down the latter, use the wheel on the right wall. Boss-Jump a lot. Use Moth's weapon. Wheel Gator Energy Enhancer-Reccomend using Stag's Level 3. Go to the right of where the spikes are. Use the Jump-Dash, then immediately use the Stag's weapon. You'll land right above the spikes so jump onto the ledge quickly. Special Power-Up: X-Buster-Recommend using the Legs. When you are dropping down on the right side, just above the floor with the MAA, there is a part of the ceiling missing. Either of the Jump-Dashes are ok. The one using the legs is easier. Grab the wall. Above is the power up. This lets you fire a "Double Shot" (Charge to three, let go of, then quickly press Y again, X-Buster only.) Also lets all weapons go to level 3. Special Boss-The path will split, you have the choice of keep going down or going left. Go left to find the Special Boss. Boss-Don't really need to use a weapon against this guy. Stay on the upper-right. When he goes under and fires at you, jump off, but quickly get back on. When he comes out, jump down. Fire. When he fires wheels above water, get in between their dips. When he fire bullets, jump. When he spins, cling to the wall. Repeat until done. Wire Sponge Energy Enhancer- From when you start, go to the upper left wall. It's hidden there. Sub-Tank-When you come to the spikes, dash-jump to the left wall. Work to the right, on the pipes, until you find it. Special Boss-Fall off the right side of the lift.
