Fighting the Dragon Worm

Sent in by Joshua Ziv To defeat the dragon worm right before draygon, just stand in the right corner and aim at whatever hole he comes out of. You'll lose minimum life and he'll die real fast.

Fighting the Crocomire

Sent in by "Weird Ando" at The Unofficial World of Nintendo!!! The Crocomire is easy to beat. You can only hit him in the mouth when it's open. Make sure you have lots of Super Missiles and the Charge Beam. Start by using up all Super Missiles. This should put him about halfway back to the lava that kills him. Then don't use the regular Missiles. They are too weak against him. Instead, disarm all missiles and use whatever beams you've got, charging them with the charge beam. This will be very effective. Soon, you will have pushed him onto a breakable bit of ground, and he'll fall into the lava. When you see bubbles going left, follow them to the far left spiked wall, then the skeleton of the Crocomire will fall through, opening the way for you, and replenishing much of your life and missiles.

Horizontal or Vertical Speed Jump

Sent in by David E. To do either the Horizontal or Vertical Speed Jump, run with the Speed Booster on and once you start glowing, press down. To do Vertical, press jump, horizontal, press jump + left or right.

Hidden stuff

Sent in by David E. In Norfair, while you are heading towards Ridley, 2 walls show up being solid to the X-Ray device. When you see the statue of Crocomire, go into his mouth. In the same room (out of Crocomires mouth of course) go to the top of the room. See the wall on the left? X-Ray shows nothing? Go through the wall. Just walk through. Follow the corridor to another room. Go through the maze on your left. Your in a room where there were some stuff you could see but not reach. You can now!

Special attack

Sent in by Commander Bond To use a special attack, select the Power Bomb and any beam + the charge beam. Then, charge it up, and depending what beam you selected, a different effect will produce.

Killing Ridley

Sent in by Commander Bond To kill Ridley the second time, drop lots of super-bombs and fire Super-Missiles repeatedly at him. Eventually, he will be defeated. Remember to get the power tank in the next room though.

Use regular bombs to elevate yourself to unanticipated heights

Sent in by Peterson at The Unofficial World of Nintendo!!! If you can get the rhythm right, you can use regular bombs to elevate yourself to unanticipated heights. For instance, if you're in the pit with the laughing things that spin-jump up the walls and you can't do that, press down twice while standing on the left side of the up-shaft in order to roll up into a ball, and find the bomb release rhythm that will lift you higher and higher. About 3/5 of the way up the shaft, there is a ledge on the left where you can take a breather. After resting, bomb upward again and roll to the left when you reach the top. You can use this trick in several places, including the mountains to the left and right of your ship.

Charge Beam tip

Sent in by Smoot Carter and Zack Payne If you run out of missiles and you are facing a boss, such as Ridley, you may use the Charge Beam, A weapon you can find in Brinstar. It doesn't matter if you have any other weapon, it will work just the same. If you charge up the Charge Beam, it will hurt the bosses just as much as regular missiles.

Fighting Mother Brain

Sent in by Medley After destroying the cylinders in Mother Brain's chamber with regular missiles, go to the Refill room. Then go back to the room just before Mother Brain's, and Save. When you re-load the game, the cylinders will all be gone still, and you will have full energy and missiles. When you get to Mother Brain, kneel on the edge of the platform closest to her, and aim up-left. When the missiles have made a small hole in the glass, your missiles will go straight through, and hit MB, which will destroy the glass and hurt her at the same time.

Battering ram technique

Sent in by Brian P. Lesyk at The Unofficial World of Nintendo!!! To execute the secret battering ram technique, do the following: First, you must find the Space Jump Boots and the Speed Booster Boots. Once you have them both, find a long, open area where you can make a full-speed run. Once you are fully charged, press Down to stop. While Samus is kneeling, press the jump button and either Left or Right on the see.

Refill all of your energy

Before you can refill your life, be sure that you have at least eleven Power Bombs, ten Super Missiles and ten regular Missiles. Once you have the required items, you must have less than 50 points of energy remaining (meaning that all your Energy and Reserve Tanks are empty). Roll into a ball and highlight the Power Bombs, then hold Down on the Control Pad and the L and R Buttons. While holding all three of these, press and hold the Fire Button to use the Power Bomb. Continue to hold all of the buttons down until the Power Bomb explodes. Samus will then be engulfed in a circle of white light that will refill all of her energy!

Power up your lasers

To power up your lasers, you must have the Charge Beam and some Power Bombs. On the Samus Info Screen, activate the Charge Beam and one of the other lasers, like the Spazer Beam or Ice Beam. Return to the game play screen and highlight the Power Bomb Icon. Then, hold down the Fire Button to charge up your weapon. This will create a temporary shield around Samus that destroys anything it comes in contact with it. Different combinations of lasers and the Charge Beam will have different effects.

Bouncing off walls

Bouncing off walls will allow you to reach out-of-the-way areas. To perform this maneuver, start with a spinning jump by taking a few steps in one direction and pressing the Jump Button. As soon as Samus touches a wall (while spinning), press the opposite direction on the Control Pad. Then, a fraction of a second later, press Jump again to make Samus rebound off of the wall. When she does, she will gain more height. This trick is difficult to master, but once you learn it, you will be able to explore areas much more thoroughly.

Release Five Bombs instead of one

Fully charge any weapon. Hold the fire button down. Press Down two times to Roll up into a Ball. Release the Fire Button to set a Bomb. You will release Five Bombs instead of one.

Blast of energy

For this tip, you must have Super Bombs and Weapons powered up. Press Start to go to the Map Screen. Press R to access the Status Screen. On the Beam Menu, highlight "Charge" and one other weapon. Press Start to exit the screen. When you come back to the level, highlight the Super Bomb icon. Press and hold the fire button. Depending on which weapon you use, a blast of energy will appear.

Speed Booster Blast

The Speed Booster Blast is a special trick that makes Samus to shoot high up into the air. This allows you to break the blocks that are marked with arrows. To perform this trick, you must have the Speed Booster. Hold down the Dash Button and run until Samus has a glowing blue field around her. While Samus is glowing, press Down on the Control Pad once to make Samus flash yellow. Then, press the Jump Button and the direction that you wish to jump in. Samus will do a powerful dashing jump in whatever direction you pressed when you hit the Jump Button. To jump diagonally, hold the L or R Button first, then press the Jump Button.

End of game escape route

While trying to escape from Zebes after destroying Mother Brain, you can take a quick detour to rescue the little creatures that helped you earlier the game. To find them, go to the room in Crateria where you found the regular Bombs. (Directions to this room are below.) Shoot at the wall on the right side of the room and you will open an escape route for the creatures. Once you free them, return to your ship and stand on top of it. Then, press Down on the Control Pad to enter your ship and finish the game. As you're making your way back to your ship after defeating Mother Brain, look for a large hump in the ground. It has a small passage leading into it from the left and right sides. Roll into a ball, then roll into the passage on the left. You will drop down into a vertical shaft. At the bottom of the shaft, enter the door on the right. Work your way right to the creatures, then shoot at the wall on the right side of the room to open up their escape route.

Powered Vertical Jump

To do a Powered Vertical Jump, hold down your Dash button, and run in some direction until Samus starts to glow and leave a trail. When you get close to the place you want to jump from, push Down on the control pad. Then release the Dash button and control pad. Samus is now glowing. You have a couple of seconds (maybe 4 or 5) to move around before the glow wears off. Before the glow wears off, hit Jump. You'll do a Powered Vertical Jump, which will send you through any blocks marked with the 'speed booster' symbol. You'll keep going straight up until you run out of energy, or hit something. Don't forget that you burn off energy at a rather high rate while performing this type of jump.

Some missiles

Here's a good spot for the Powered Horizontal Jump. Go to Norfair, and head over to the left side of the map. Find the room that is 1 square wide and 4 squares high on the map, with entrances on the right side of the top and bottom squares. This room has a bunch of platforms that are two units wide, and they're all built of the rock type that collapses when you touch it (so you tend to fall all the way to the bottom of the room when you enter, since everything collapses under you). Those little orange spiky monsters are here too, clinging to the platforms. Be careful so you don't fall immediately when you come through the door. Use your X-ray device on the opposite wall. See those Missiles hidden in the wall? Shoot at the wall and you can get a better look at them, though the wall closes up again very soon thereafter. You don't have much time to reach them after breaking open the wall. Retreat back into the room that is connected to the top of this shaft. (Go back out the door.) Clear all the critters from the room, and go stand on the far right side. Now do a Dash all the way across the room, pushing down just before the door in order to make Samus glow. Shoot the door open, and step carefully through. Now you're standing on a tiny bit of ledge. Fire at the far wall to reveal the Missiles (or you can shoot them after you jump across, if you're fast). Hit Jump, and immediately press Left on the control pad. Zoom! A Powered Horizontal Jump, which puts you in the perfect place to grab the Missiles.

Fighting lava heads

Some of those obnoxious heads that spit fireballs... in the lava pit on the way to Ridley (in Norfair), can be destroyed. The ones in the lava pit seem to be invulnerable, but the ones that occur elsewhere are not. One good Power Bomb will generally kill them. That's only marginally useful -- it's usually just as easy to zap them with the Ice Beam and avoid them. However, there's something behind at least one of them.

Bosses

To defeat the Chozo Statue in Crateria, hit the statue in the chest 15 to 20 times with the Missiles. Once the statue has been defeated, you will obtain the Bombs. To defeat Spore Spawn, stay in the bottom-left corner of the room and kneel down. While you're kneeling, the Spore Spawn cannot hurt you, therefore, this is a safe spot. When the Spore Spawn stops moving and opens up, jump up and shoot at its core with your Missiles. Repeat this until the Spore Spawn is defeated. You may also want to shoot the small spores to receive power-up items. To defeat Kraid, you must force his mouth open by hitting him in the eyes. Avoid his attacks until you get the opportunity to hit him in the eyes. Once his mouth opens, shoot Super Missiles at it. If you run out of Super Missiles, use your regular Missiles or a charged up laser. Shoot the claws that fly around the room to receive power-up items. To defeat Crocomire, you need excellent timing and lots of patience. Avoid his attacks while shooting at the balls he shoots out. These will give you item and energy power-ups. Wait until Crocomire opens his mouth, then shoot Super Missiles into it. If you run out of Super Missiles, use Missiles or a charged up laser. Each time you hit him, he will move back a short distance. Continually hit him in the mouth to force him back into the lava pit behind him. Be careful not to hit Crocomire in the body because it will make him move forward rather than back. To defeat Phantoon, you must be very quick and accurate with your shots. Phantoon is only vulnerable when he is solid and his eye is open. When he shoots out blue flames, you can destroy them with your laser to get item and weapon power-ups. Try to avoid all his other attacks. When he stops shooting out flames and opens his eye, shoot at the eye with Super Missiles, Missiles or your charged-up laser. This battle is one of the most difficult in the game; patience is the key. The Dragon Worm moves in and out of several holes in its lair. There are no safe spots in the room, so the second the Dragon Worm shows his head, begin shooting Super Missiles at it. If you run out of Super Missiles, use regular Missiles. The trick is to fight him with full life and lots of Missiles! To defeat Draygon, it is best to AVOID a straight-forward attack. As soon as you enter his lair, use your Super Missiles destroy the four green domes located on the left and right walls. Once destroyed, the orbs leave an electrical field behind. Have your Grappling Beam equipped and let Draygon pick you up. He will carry you up and toward the left wall. Once you are close enough to the left wall, grapple to one of the electrical fields. You will get shocked, but so will Draygon. As long as you have at least four full Energy Tanks, you will withstand the charge longer than Draygon. To defeat the Chozo Statue in the bottom of Norfair, use the Charge Beam and the Plasma Beam. Charge up your weapon and hit the statue at every opportunity. It will be a long, difficult battle, but you can obtain energy power-ups by shooting the balls the statue throws at you. You will encounter these pirates on your way to fight Ridley. Wait until they turn yellow, then attack them with Missiles or Super Missiles until they are destroyed. Use the Screw Attack to avoid their attacks. To defeat Ridley, make sure your arsenal is fully stocked. Roll into a ball and use the Spring Ball jump high into the air. This will allow you to place Power Bombs at the peak of your jump. Be sure to avoid Ridley as you're bouncing. If you run out of Power Bombs, switch to Super Missiles, regular Missiles, or any charged laser. This is a very difficult battle, but patience and practice will pay off in the long run. Mother Brain has two forms. In her first form, she is in a glass cylinder. To destroy this form, break the cylinder with regular Missiles. Then, continue to shoot regular Missiles at Mother Brain, until she transforms. When she is in her second form, stand in the bottom-right corner of the room. Jump and shoot at her head with the Super Missiles. If you run out of Super Missiles, hit her with the regular Missiles or a charged-up laser. After hitting her several times, she will drain most of your energy in an automatic sequence. When the baby Metroid returns and refills your life, begin attacking Mother Brain again. Once she is defeated, you will need to escape from the planet.

Where do I go after finding the Hi-Jump Boots?

To continue your quest once you've found the Hi-Jump Boots, go back to the top of the elevator that connects Brinstar to Norfair. (There is nothing to stop you, just back-track along the same path that you took to get to the Hi-Jump Boots.) At the top of the elevator, face right and use your Super Missiles to open a passage leading right. Explore this new passageway to find Brinstar's evil ruler, Kraid.

Where do I go after finding the Ice Beam?

To continue on your quest once you've found the Ice Beam, return to the elevator that links Norfair to Brinstar. From the top of the elevator, go left to a red vertical shaft. Use the Ice Beam to freeze the enemies above you, and use them as stepping stones. Jump up to the top of the shaft and go right. Use your regular Bombs to break through the floor and reach the Power Bombs. With the Power Bombs in your possession, you will be able to open many new doors.

What do I do after getting the Screw Attack?

Often players will think they are stuck after finding the Screw Attack. To resume your quest, you need to use the Screw Attack, along with the Space Jump. In the room where you found the Screw Attack, you will need to break through the ceiling. Jump up, and shortly after you begin to fall back down, press the Jump Button again to gain even more height. This method, combined with the Screw Attack's ability to break certain blocks, will allow you to go up through the ceiling to two doors above you.

What do I do after Defeating Ridley?

After defeating Ridley, you need to begin your search for the final boss, Mother Brain. Unfortunately, you aren't given any instructions about where to find her. To reach her lair, the treacherous Tourian, you must go back to the large golden statue you found near the far-left side of Crateria. Now that you've defeated the other bosses, the statue will sink into the ground, opening a pathway that leads into Tourian.

Walkthrough

When you begin the game, you are in the Space Colony. There is only one way to go here; if you think you're at a dead-end, move close to a nearby wall to make a door open. Once you encounter Ridley, dodge his attacks and shoot him as often as possible. After he takes several hits, he will steal the Metroid larvae and fly away. After Ridley flies away, you have one minute to escape the Space Colony. Return to the elevator that brought you here. There are no tricks here -- just run for your life! From Samus's ship, go left and down to the first elevator. Take the elevator down to the bottom, then walk left to find the Morphing Ball. From where you find the Morphing Ball, go right and enter the door just past the elevator. Shoot down through the floor in this room and drop to the bottom, then enter the door on the left to find the first Missile Tank. You must have the Morphing Ball and the Missiles to reach the first Bomb. Once you have these items, go left from Samus's ship to a large lump on the ground. Look for a small passage leading into the left side of the lump. Enter the passage, then roll into a ball and move down and left as far as possible. When you reach a pink door, shoot it with five Missiles to open it. Defeat the Chozo Statue to receive the Bomb. You must have the Bombs to reach the Charge Beam. Take the elevator on the far left side of Brinstar all the way down. From where you exit the elevator, go down all the way, right all the way and down all the way to appear at the bottom of a large pink room. Bomb the strange-looking block here to reveal a hole. Roll into a ball and drop into the hole to locate the Charge Beam. You must have the regular Missiles to reach Spore Spawn. The Spore Spawn is the plant-like mini-boss located in the upper-middle portion of Brinstar. To reach his lair, go to the top of the large pink room you found the charge beam in. Then, go through the door on the right to enter the Spore Spawn's lair. To defeat Spore Spawn, stay in the bottom-left corner of the room and kneel down. While you're kneeling, the Spore Spawn cannot hurt you. When the Spore Spawn stops moving and opens up, jump up and shoot at its core with your Missiles. Repeat this until the Spore Spawn is defeated. You may also want to shoot the small spores to receive power-up items. Once you defeat the Spore Spawn, go through the door in the ceiling. Follow the path leading up and right to a green pipe. Stand on the pipe and you will automatically drop down a long shaft to the first set of Super Missiles. To get the Hi-Jump boots, go to the elevator that links Brinstar to Norfair. Take the elevator down into Norfair and enter the third door on the left. You will be in a chamber that contains an Energy Tank. Look around for the break away blocks and roll into a ball to find the Hi-Jump Boots. To get to the elevator that links Brinstar to Norfair, start from the large pink room in the center of Brinstar. This is the same room that leads to the Charge Beam and Spore Spawn. Enter the green door in the bottom-right corner of this room, then go right and down as far as possible. Along the way, you will need to run (hold your A Button to RUN) past some crumbling blocks. When it looks as though you can't go down any further, use your Bombs to break through the blocks below you. Then, continue downward. Once you reach the bottom of the shaft, go right to the elevator. To get the Spazer Beam, you must have the Hi-Jump Boots. Start at the top of the elevator that takes you from Brinstar to Norfair. Go left through four doors and to find an orange-colored room, then shoot through the top-left corner of the ceiling. Jump up through the opening and go right to the door. Enter the door and obtain the Spazer Beam. Before you can get the Varia Suit from Kraid, the giant lizard boss of Brinstar, you must have the Hi-Jump Boots. Start at the elevator that links Brinstar to Norfair. At the top of the elevator, kneel down and face right. Use your Super Missiles to open a passage to the right. Go through the wall and jump into the "mouth" in the top-right corner of the room. Continue right until you reach an orange girder, then shoot down through the girder and drop to the bottom of the room. Use Bombs to open a passage in the right wall and explore this new passageway to find Kraid's lair. To defeat Kraid, you must force his mouth open by hitting him in the eyes. Avoid his attacks until you get the opportunity to hit him in the eyes. Once his mouth opens, shoot Super Missiles at it. If you run out of Super Missiles, use your regular Missiles or a charged-up laser. Shoot the claws that fly around the room to receive power-up items. Once you defeat Kraid, a door in the lower-right corner of his lair will open up. Go through this door to locate the Varia Suit. To get the Speed Booster, you must have the Varia Suit to protect you from the heat of Norfair. Once you have the Varia Suit, go to the room in Norfair that is filled with green bubbles. You will notice that there are two doors in this room that you cannot enter. The door in the upper right takes you to the Speed Booster, but it is a long trek to get there. You must use the Bombs to reach the door that leads down. Then, explore the area until you find a dead end. One of the walls at the dead end has a mouth on it. Roll into a ball and go underneath the mouth to continue. Eventually, you will appear on the right side of the green bubble room. Jump up and enter the top-right door to get to the Speed Booster. Before you can get the Ice Beam, you must have the Speed Booster. Once you have the Speed Booster, return to the elevator that links Brinstar to Norfair. From the bottom of the elevator, enter the first door on the left. Use your Speed Booster to run all the way left, under the pillars and go through the door on the left. Go to the top-right side of this room, roll into a ball and bomb through the floor in front of the door. Then, drop down and go through the opening on the right. Continue right to locate the room containing the Ice Beam. To get to the Power Bombs, you must have the Ice Beam. Once you have the Ice Beam, return to the elevator that links Norfair to Brinstar. From the top of the elevator, go left to a red vertical shaft. Use the Ice Beam to freeze the enemies above you. Then, use the enemies as stepping stones to jump up the shaft. Once you reach the top of the shaft, go through the door on the right. Continue going to the right, and enter the next door. In this room, shoot down through the floor and drop down as far as possible. Enter the door to the left, and you will find the Power Bombs on the far- left side of the room. To reach Crocomire's lair, you must possess the Power Bombs. Once you have them, go to the elevator that links Brinstar to Norfair. From the bottom of the elevator, enter the first door on the left. Use the Power Bombs on the left side of the room to reveal an opening in the floor. Drop down through the opening and follow the path left, down and right until you reach two doors. Shoot the door below you to drop into Crocomire's lair. To defeat Crocomire, you need excellent timing and lots of patience. Avoid his attacks while shooting at the balls he shoots out. These will give you item and energy power-ups. Wait until Crocomire opens his mouth, then shoot Super Missiles into it. If you run out of Super Missiles, use Missiles or a charged-up laser. Each time you hit him, he will move back a short distance. Continually hit him in the mouth to force him back into the lava pit behind him. Be careful not to hit Crocomire in the body because he will move forward rather than back. Once you defeat Crocomire, go to the left wall of his lair. Go through the door and down a long vertical shaft, then go down through the long vertical shaft. At the bottom, use a Power Bomb to clear away the blocks and enemies in your way, then go to the right side of the room. Run to the left using your Speed Booster, and when you're at the top of the ramp, press the Jump Button. If you time it right, you'll arc across the huge lava pit to the door in the left wall. Enter the door to find the Grappling Beam. You must have the Grappling Beam to get the X-Ray Scope. Start from the elevator that links Brinstar to Norfair. Go left to a red vertical shaft and use your Ice Beam to freeze the enemies above you. Use the enemies as stepping stones to reach the first door on the left. Use a Power Bomb to open the door, then enter it and use the Grappling Beam to swing to the far-left side of the room. Use your Bombs in the room to the left to find the X-Ray Scope. You must have the Grappling Beam to reach the Wave Beam. Start from the Save Point located in the top-center portion of Norfair. This Save Point is located next to the room full of green bubbles. From the Save Point, follow the same path that you took to reach the Speed Booster. Go down, right, then up. Before you get back to the green bubble room, enter the big room on the right. In this room, jump across the small floating platforms to a ledge. Continue right, using the Grappling Beam, and enter the door in the upper-right corner of the room. This room contains the Wave Beam. To find Phantoon, start from the "Out of Order" Save Point in the Wrecked Ship. From the Save Point, go all the way down, then right to a wall. Roll into a ball and place a Bomb against the wall to your right to reveal a narrow passage leading right. Roll right to find Phantoon's Lair. To defeat Phantoon, you must be very quick and accurate with your shots. Phantoon is only vulnerable when he is solid and his eye is open. When he shoots out blue flames, you can destroy them with your laser to get item and weapon power-ups. Try to avoid all of his other attacks. When he stops shooting out flames and opens his eye, shoot at the eye with Super Missiles, Missiles or your charged-up laser. This battle is one of the most difficult in the game; patience is the key. Once you've defeated Phantoon, go to the corridor at the top of the Wrecked Ship. Defeat all of the enemies in this corridor to make the far-left metal door turn blue. Enter the door and go to the left. As you go left, use the X-Ray Scope to find a secret passage. Shoot through the bricks in the ground and follow the path down and right. Continue right through three doors. The floor of the third room is covered with spikes and there is a Chozo Statue on the far-right side. Stand on the hands of the Chozo Statue and roll into a ball. The statue will begin to move and take you into another room. When it stops moving, go through the door on the left to find the Gravity Suit. To reach the Dragon Worm's lair, you must have the Gravity Suit. Start from the glass tube that links Maridia to Brinstar. Break the tube with a Power Bomb and go up through the door in the ceiling. Go to the top of the next room and go right through two doors. You'll need to use your Grappling Beam to reach an area full of pink girders. Use your regular Bombs to find a hole leading down. In the big pink room, use the Grappling Beam to work your way to the door in the top-left corner of the room. Enter the door and go right until you reach the Dragon Worm's lair. Once there, shoot Super Missiles at the Dragon Worm's head until it's destroyed. To find Draygon, start from the Dragon Worm's lair. Go right, up and right again. Go through the lower-right door and you will enter a room with spikes along the floor. Drop into the first set of spikes. . .they're FAKE! This leads directly to Draygon's lair. To defeat Draygon efficiently, it is best to AVOID a straight-forward attack. As soon as you enter Draygon's lair, use your Super Missiles destroy the four green domes located on the left and right walls. Once they're destroyed, the orbs leave an electrical field behind. Once you've defeated Draygon, go through the door on the left side of the room to locate the Space Jump. To find the Plasma Beam, you must have the Space Jump. Start from the elevator that leads from the Wrecked Ship into Maridia. Drop to the bottom of the shaft and enter the door on the left. Go left through two more doors and use the Space Jump to reach the top of the shaft. Go right through two doors. Drop down to the bottom-right corner of this room to find the Plasma Beam. Before you can get the Spring Ball, you must have the Space Jump. Start from the glass tube that links Maridia to Brinstar. Go up and enter the door in the ceiling, then enter the door on the right. Shoot a Missile at the metal post to make it rise, then go right through six doors. Next, use your Grappling Beam to grab the single block in the ceiling. Once the block disappears, use the space jump to go up the shaft above you. At the top of the shaft, go right and drop down the next shaft, staying near the right wall. Enter the first door on the right. There is a metal creature and a post in this room. Do NOT defeat the metal creature!! Instead, shoot a Missile at the post to make it rise, then follow the creature to the far-right side of the room to find the Spring Ball. Before you can get the Screw Attack, you must have the Space Jump. Start at the elevator that links the upper half of Norfair to the lower half of Norfair. From the bottom of the elevator, go left as far as possible and enter a room filled with lava. Use a Power Bomb in this room to locate a Chozo Statue, then stand in the Chozo Statue's hands and roll into a ball. This will cause the lava to disappear. Go down and right until another Chozo Statue drops from the ceiling and defeat it with Super Missiles and Missiles. Once the statue is defeated, go through the door on the right to find the Screw Attack. To find the second elevator in Norfair, start from Crocomire's lair. Go up through the door and go right as far as you can. Then, go down and enter the door on the left. Drop into the lava and use the Space Jump to move up and left through the lava. In the top-left corner of the room, you will find a "mouth." Enter the mouth to locate the elevator. Before you can find Ridley, you must have the Screw Attack. Start from the Save Point in the lower-right corner of Norfair. (Directions to this Save Point are below.) Go all the way to the bottom of the corridor and use your Bombs to work your way right to a door. Go through the door and work your way down and left. Use your Power Bombs to find the secret passage ways. When you reach the room with the two grey metal creatures, defeat them. To do this, wait until they turn yellow, then attack them with Missiles or Super Missiles until they are destroyed. Use the Screw Attack to avoid their attacks. Once they're defeated, go through the door on the left and continue left until you reach a door with an eye on it. Enter the door to reach Ridley's lair. To find the lower-right save location in Norfair, you must have the Screw Attack. Start from the lower elevator in Norfair. From the bottom of the elevator, go right until you find a large cavernous area. In this room, the lava will begin to rise once you enter. Space Jump to the top-right corner of the room and enter the door. Shoot down through the floor in this small hallway and drop down. The Save Point is in the first door to the right. To defeat Ridley, make sure your arsenal is almost fully stocked. To reach Mother Brain, you must first defeat Ridley. Once he has been defeated, go back to the statue of the four bosses in Crateria. If you have defeated all of the bosses up to Mother Brain, the statue will sink into the ground, revealing a passage to Tourian. Once you have destroyed Mother Brain, you will have three minutes to get back to your ship and escape from Planet Zebes. There is only one way to go; just blast through any enemies or doors you encounter with the powered-up laser you received from the baby Metroid. Once you reach your ship, jump on top of it and press down on the control pad to escape Zebes.
