Author's Note | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hey, once again, it is Donphan, writing another guide. Well this time, it is bulbagarden.com and gamefaqs.com ONLY! This guide will focus more on being easier to understand and I will expand on all topics. I wouldn't have been able to make this strategy guide without the help of my good friend CJ. You can e-mail him at Grimr8@aol.com. Thanks Chris! My goal is to make this strategy 300KB. I am currently 5% there. I recently did the math in my head, and if I continue to do the same job I am doing now, I will be able to do it with all of the strategies and 30 KB of other stuff. Added with the move list and other things, this guide might end up being 550KB and will probablly be finishing up the time PokÈmon Stadium 2 comes out. Ok, I've kept this section nice and short for now, lets move on to the more important things. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | 2. Version History | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Version 1.1 - Changed Format - Now 8x6 resolution - ASCII art header - Changed many Title names -Past Updates now Version History -Introduction now Author's Note - Started and Finished Secrets Section Version 1.0 -Everything in this guide is new. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | 3. Menu | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well, when you first turn on the game, and watch the introduction, you will see that there is four controller sections. If a controller is plugged into a port, it will show up present. If a controller is present, and a transfer pack with a game is present as well, it will all show up here. ----------------------------------------| |IN ORDER TO PLAY, YOU HAVE TO SAVE | |YOUR GAME IN A POKEMON CENTER. | | | |If you don't want to do it on | |Gameboy, you can go to the GB Tower | |and go to a PokÈmon Center there. | |---------------------------------------| Push A to select Ok, so you can go to the main menu. Now that you are at the main Menu, you can select a variety of options. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | A. Battle Now! | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You can go against thge computer or a friend in a quick battle with PokÈmon that were pre-chosen in the game. You will not achieve anything except bragging rights for winning. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | 1a. Stadium | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the most interesting and fun thing to do in the game. Here, you battle using the different cup rules. PokÈ Cup and Prime Cup players will have four difficulty levels to chose from: PokÈ Ball, Great Ball, Ultra Ball, Master Ball. Petit Cup and Pika Cup Players will only have to play one difficulty level. --------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Petit Cup Ok, so you are going to try out Petit Cup, but before you do, you must follow the rules to play. - PokÈmon Levels must be between 25-30 - The Combined PokÈmon Levels can NOT exceed 80 combined - PokÈmon must be 6'8" tall or less - PokÈmon must weigh less than 44 lbs. - Mew may not attend - "Un-evolved" PokÈmon may ONLY attend Recommendations for rental PokÈmon: -Tangela -Pikachu -Pidgey -Squirtle -Abra -Growlithe Trainers: Trainer 1: Bug Boy Tips: Bug Boy likes to use Grass, Poision, and Bug type PokÈmon. He shouldn't be hard though- after all, you are fighting on the easiest cup, fight one, round one, so don;t worry. PokÈmon: Caterpy Caterpie Bug Level 25 Tips: If Bug boy uses Caterpie, there shouldn't be any problem. Caterpie is a very easy PokÈmon, and hopefully, it won't kill you with Tackle or String Shot. Weedly Weedle Bug/Poision Level 25 Tips: Weedle shouldn't be too hard easier, but Bug Boy may not use it. Be careful for Weedle's Poision Sting- It may not be the most effective attack against strong PokÈmon if it poisions you, but you aren't dealing with a lot of HP here, so it does matter. All you can do is pray not to be poisioned. Pary Paras Bug/Grass Level 25 Tips: Paras isn't a hard PokÈmon to beat. It has horrible attack and horrible special, as well as horrible defense. A fire attack should take it out in one or two hits. Oddy Oddish Grass/Poision Level 25 Tips: Oddish was always an easy PokÈmon, and because it has two evolutions after it, you'd expect it to be weak. Try using a fire, flying, or ice attack on it and it should go down in the first hit. Bellsy Bellsprout Grass/Poision Level 25 Tips: Bellsprout could be the hardest PokÈmon you fight, because it has a very cheap attack- wrap. If it has higher speed than you, and it uses the wrap attack, it will slowly faint all of your PokÈmon. Luckily, we chose a fire PokÈmon with higher speed, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem. Eggy Exeggcute Grass/Psychic Level 25 Tips: Exeggcute is another annoying PokÈmon, because it likes to use the hypnosis attack, and that gets really annoying- Luckily, there are rules against putting more than two PokÈmon to sleep, so if the first two are asleep, use your third, but if you have one fainted PokÈmon... Trainer 2: Lad Tips: Lad likes to use flying, poision, and grass types, so be prepared for his PokÈmon. We have a good team with us, so he shouldn't be too hard. PokÈmon: Piddy Pidgey Normal/Flying Level 25 Tips: If you can't beat a Pidgey, I feel sorry for you. Here is a hint: what makes it faint, comes from the heavens...Well actually, the clouds. Ratty Rattata Normal Level 26 Tips: Rattata is weak against fighting, but we did not bring along any fighting PokÈmon, so a well though out strategy using normal or any attacks will make it faint. Ditty Ditto Normal Level 25 Tips: Ditto may be able to transform into your PokÈmon, but it truly does have horrible stats, so making it faint shouldn't be too hard. Just remember not to use a move like Thundershock on it if it transforms into your Pikachu. Bulby Bulbasaur Grass/Poision Level 26 Tips: Bulbasaur is a very good PokÈmon...No really, it is...If you brought along a fire PokÈmon, I suggest you use it, but who'd want to make a Bulbasaur faint? Ekansy Ekans Poision Level 26 Tips: Ekans isn't a hard PokÈmon, but you didn't bring any PokÈmon super-effective against it, so you will have to use non super-effective attacks to win. Zubaty Zubat Poision/Flying Level 25 Tips: Zubat will not be hard if you brought along an Electric PokÈmon, which you should've anyway in case Lad used a flying PokÈmon. Trainer 3: Nerd Tips: Nerd, being the nerd that he is, likes to use all different types of PokÈmon. On top of that, he will have two level 30 PokÈmon! He will only be able to use one of them in battle, though, because otherwise, he would exceed the limit of 80 in levels. PokÈmon: Dudegeo Geodude Rock/Ground Level 25 Tips: Geodude may be a strong PokÈmon, but he can't stand to be attacked x4 with a water move, or x2 wwith a grass move. You should be able to eliminate him in your first shot with a water PokÈmon. Lygast Gastly Ghost/Poision Level 25 Tips: Gastly is a ghost, which means normal and fighting attacks are no good against it. Be careful, and if you have a psychic attack, use it here. Orbvolt Voltorb Electric Level 25 Tips: Voltorb is very quick, but not strong at all. Use a psychic attack or a fire, but electric will obviously not do much damage, even though it has the lowest possible special defense. Dershell Shellder Water Level 25 Tips: Shellder is a water PokÈmon, but it still has ice moves. an Electric attack should take it out. Be careful to not get frozen, because only a fire move will heal that status. Fingkof Koffing Poision Level 30 Tips: Wow, this Koffing is on level 30, and it is not easy at all. Ground blocks poision, but if you did not bring along ground, try an electric attack. Cuteegg Exeggcute Grass/Psychic Tips: Exeggcute is a very annoying PokÈmon, because it likes to use the hypnosis attack, and that gets really annoying- Luckily, there are rules against putting more than two PokÈmon to sleep, so if the first two are asleep, use your third, but if you have one fainted PokÈmon, you are out of luck. Trainer 4: Sailor Tips: Well now the matches will get harder, espically for the rental PokÈmon, because all of the PokÈmon you face from here on in, will be above level 25, and will most likely have higher speed than the rental PokÈmon...Good luck! Oh yeah, the sailor likes to use water PokÈmon (I hope you could guess that) and for some strange reason, a Machop and Spearow...Oh well, here we go. PokÈmon: Krablor Krabby Type: Water Level 26 Tips: Krabby is a PokÈmon with good attack and defense, but horrible special, and thats where you can bring in the kill. Use any electric attacks, and because of its low special, you can make it faint in one hit. Sealor Horsea Water Level 27 Tips: Horsea is a fairly easy PokÈmon, although it is on level 27 and is faster than most rental PokÈmon. Hopefully, you have a leveled up electric PokÈmon, and you should be able to make it faint. Magilor Magikarp Water Level 26 Tips: Magikarp is a VERY easy PokÈmon. An electric or grass move should easily knock it out and if you are having trouble with this PokÈmon, I have no sympathy for you. Choplor Machop Fighting Level 26 Tips: Machop should be an easy knock out for any flying PokÈmon with gust or peck, but be careful for its Karate Chop attack- it always connects with a critical hit. Goldor Goldeen Water Level 26 Tips: Goldeen is another easy PokÈmon to knock out with any electric attack, but it has a peck attack which is very strong at times, why? I dunno... Spearlor Spearow Normal/Flying Level 27 Tips: Spearow is a vicious PokÈmon, but it is also weak against that electric PokÈmon you brought along with you. If your electric PokÈmon fainted, try an ice attack. Trainer 5: Jr. Female Tips: Jr. Female is a pretty tough trainer who uses various types, and there is a reason for that- you are halfway through the tournament! Congradulations, give yourself a pat on the back, you're doing great...Well, actually, I'm doing great, but we'll just say you are for arguments sake. PokÈmon: Cucu Cubone Ground Level 26 Tips: Cubone will be a tough PokÈmon, that is because it has the dig ability, which is a very annoying attack, unless you bring along a flying type with a water move... Oh yeah, you won't see a flying type with a water move until Gold/Silver. Try a quick win with a water PokÈmon. Growlgrowl Growlithe Fire Level 27 Tips: Growlithe is an agile fire PokÈmon with high defense and special. It is also one of the toughest PokÈmon in the game, by the way, because it likes to use the dig attack, which becomes annoying. A water PokÈmon can do the job, but swift is the only way to hit it underground. Meowmeow Meowth Normal Level 27 Tips: Meowth is a fast PokÈmon with scratch attacks like scratch and fury swipes. Use an attack that deals a good amount of damage, but doesn't miss too often. Abab Abra Psychic Level 26 Tips: Abra may evolve into powerful PokÈmon, but it is nothing like them now, so don't worry, any normal attack will work, because it has good special, but bad defense, as well as with what it evolves into. Polipoli Poliwag Water Level 26 Tips: Poliwag is a break compared to what you've been fighting lately, so use this time to relax and go get a soda or something. Any old electric attack or grass attack will do just fine on it. Jigjig Jigglypuff Normal Level 27 Tips: Jigglypuff has high HP, making its defense seem much higher than it actually is. It also uses hypnotic moves on you to make you sleep so it can pound you into submission. Trainer 6: Jr. Male Tips: Jr. Male is a fairly easy trainer, but once again, he likes to use a variety of PokÈmon against you. water, grass, and electric should be the types you choose for battle, they will beat everything perfectly. PokÈmon: Digster Diglett Ground Level 26 Tips: Diglett is a rather slow and weak PokÈmon. A Sandshrew is better than its evolved form to give you a hint on the power of it. It will use dig, but not if you get your Water PokÈmon to faint it before it does. It should only take one or two hits from a water PokÈmon to make it faint. Magster Magnemite Electric Level 26 Tips: Magmenite is a rather good electric PokÈmon, and it will use supersonic to confuse you, then sonicboom to take away 20HP each hit. Use a grass PokÈmon, which is resistant to its attacks, or electric, which is also resistant to its attacks, although, you'll get better results with a grass PokÈmon, because it can effect Magnemite better than an electric PokÈmon can. Fetchant Farfetch'd Normal/Flying Level 27 Tips: Farfetch'd is very easy if you know who to use, and you've used this PokÈmon on all flying types before- an electric type! Use an electric type and Farfetch'd is a goner. Zuster Zubat Poision/Flying Level 27 Tips: Zubat is another easy PokÈmon, but it does have supersonic, which is a confusing move. Use an electric type like you did with Farfetch'd. Charmant Charmander Fire Level 27 Tips: Charmant is an easy PokÈmon, espically if you bought along any water PokÈmon, or a PokÈmon with a water move. If you have dig on any of your PokÈmon, it will be super-effective. Try using that if you don't have a water move. Squirtle Squirtle Water Level 27 Tip: This squirtle should be another easy PokÈmon for your electric PokÈmon to knock out. Electric pokÈmon seem to be the style now-a-days. We've used them in almost every battle! Trainer 7: Lass Lass isn't an easy trainer, in fact, I personally think that she is harder than the final round. She has a great team that has good moves, so be careful. PokÈmon: Kabutess Kabuto Rock/Water Level 30 Tips: Kabuto isn't hard, but it isn't easy. It is a warmup PokÈmon for Lass, that is, if she uses it first or even at all. Since it is Rock and water, you'll have to use an electric type to beat it. Grass types also woirk well against it. Pikette Pikachu Electric Level 25 Tips: Pikachu is an average PokÈmon. It has well rounded attacks, but it still is no match for any ground PokÈmon. Electric PokÈmon CAN attack rock PokÈmon, but there are no pure rock PokÈmon in the game. Vuless Vulpix Fire Level 25 Tips: Vulpix is an annoying PokÈmon, espically it's fire spin attack. If it has higher speed than its opponent, and it decides to use fire spin a lot, there is nothing you can do. So make sure you have an agile water PokÈmon with you. Clefairess Clefairy Normal Level 25 Tips: Clefairy is a very difficult PokÈmon, and you'll need every last piece of knowledge you know Puffette Jigglypuff Normal Level 25 Tips: Jigglypuff may be quite a challenge for you. It not only has sing, but Blizzard whic could freeze you. On top of all of that, it has rest, which is a pain. Hope that Lass doesn't use this. Eevette Eevee Normal Level 30 Tips: Eevee may lower your accuracy with Sand-Attack, but you shouldn't have a problem with that. You may have a problem with Eevee, however, because it is on Level 30. It's only status affecting move is Toxic. Final PokÈManiac This is it. The last match in Petit Cup Round One! PokÈManaic may or may not be hard for you. Plenty of stat changing attacks and wrap attacks will mean you will have to use your fastest and best PokÈmon. NidoMania Nidoran (Male) Poision Level 25 Tips: Nidoran has Horn Drill, which is a powerful attack. Poision Sting may poision your PokÈmon as well, so be careful. RanMania Nidoran (Female) Poision Level 25 Tips: Nidoran has toxic and takedown. They are the only moves that will really pose a threat to you. Otherwise, you don't have to worry too much. Dratimaina Dratini Dragon Level 30 Tips: Ok, this is the hardest PokÈmon you'll face in Petit Cup. If you have any PokÈmon With an Ice attack, you should be good, but thunderwave and Wrap are a combination of attacks that no one likes. It also has Dragon rage, which ensures 40 damage with every hit, and Ice Beam, which can freeze your PokÈmon. Shrewmania Sandshrew Ground Level 25 Tips: Sandshrew has three devistating moves. They are Earthquake, Slash and Rock Slide. It also has Sand attack, which lowers your accuracy. Use a water PokÈmon, if you have one, or Ice. Psymaina Psyduck Water Level 25 Tips: Psyduck has ice beam, which will again, freeze you and rest, which will heal it's HP completely. You should use a grass attack, or a strong normal attack. Omania Omanyte Water Level 30 Tips: This is the other tough PokÈmon. You will either fight this PokÈmon, or Dratini, and pray it is this one. This PokÈmon likes to use blizzard and double team, which will greatly increase it's evade. Congradulations, you have sucessfully completed Petit Cup, Round 1! You should now move on to Pika Cup, which puts up just as much of a challenge as Petit Cup! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | b.
